SAP secures German data centers with Adva Network Security encryption

SAP is implementing Layer 1 encryption technology from Adva Network Security to secure connectivity between its German data centers in Walldorf and St. Leon-Rot. The solution secures data at the optical transmission layer and has received approval from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for information classified as ‘For Official Use Only’ (VS-NfD).

This infrastructure upgrade is designed to protect data streams against future quantum threats and meet strict confidentiality and compliance requirements. The move aims to strengthen sovereign cloud foundations for government agencies, critical infrastructure, and regulated industries that require high levels of digital sovereignty and operational security within Germany.
