SAP unveils autonomous enterprise vision with Joule AI assistants

At the SAP Connect conference in Las Vegas, SAP SE introduced its vision for the ‘autonomous enterprise,’ showcasing AI solutions that move beyond data analysis to executing specific business processes under human supervision. Central to this strategy are the Joule Work and Joule Assistants, built on the SAP Business AI Platform.

These AI agents are designed to handle manual, time-consuming tasks across various departments, including finance, procurement, HR, and supply chain management. Early adopters such as Novartis, Nestlé, and PwC are already utilizing these tools. For instance, Novartis is piloting the Joule Sourcing Assistant to allow procurement professionals to focus on strategy, while PwC uses a Billing Assistant to identify and correct accounting errors.

Additional announcements included the launch of SAP Pay, an embedded payment service within SAP Cloud ERP, and the introduction of SAP Enterprise Financial Consolidation. SAP also noted that its Joule agents will be capable of connecting with third-party AI systems via the Agent2Agent protocol. Some of these advanced features are expected to be available through the Early Adopter Care program in late 2026 and early 2027.
