SAP unveils Business AI Platform and new service solutions at Sapphire 2026

At the SAP Sapphire 2026 conference the company highlighted artificial‑intelligence as the central theme. SAP introduced the SAP Business AI Platform, which combines the SAP Business Data Cloud, data products, AI services and the Joule Studio development environment to give enterprises a unified foundation for building and operating AI applications and agents. Thomas Winter, head of SAP Portfolio at SYBIT, stressed that “the real news of Sapphire is not the autonomous enterprise itself, but the platform on which it will be built,” and urged companies to first ensure a solid data base and architecture before scaling AI projects.

SAP also announced two product updates. The existing Field Service Management is being transformed into Field Service & Asset Management, merging service and asset functions and promising future investments in user experience and functionality. A new Commerce Cloud ERP Edition is aimed at mid‑market customers, allowing firms that run SAP Public Cloud ERP to more quickly launch digital sales channels and integrate commerce with customer portals or self‑service offerings. Winter warned against rushing to adopt the vision, advising firms to evaluate data availability, viable use cases and long‑term scalability before committing.
