Sapanca Lake reaches highest water level in two years

Sapanca Lake, a vital drinking water source for the Marmara Region, has reached its highest water level in two years following heavy rainfall in Sakarya. After a severe drought period where water levels dropped to 28.98 meters—leaving piers dry and causing soil cracks—the level rose to approximately 30.54–30.56 meters as of October 20.

Seyit Sakallıoğlu, General Manager of the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ), stated that the recent rainfall provided enough water to meet the city's needs for approximately four months, adding an estimated 32 million cubic meters to the lake. Additionally, the Akçay Dam, which feeds the lake via the Sarp Deresi, has reached a capacity of over 80 percent.
