Saponé Gendarmerie seizes prohibited pharmaceuticals in Burkina Faso

The Saponé Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade intercepted a significant shipment of prohibited pharmaceutical products in Targho, a locality approximately 30 kilometers from Saponé, on August 22, 2026. During the operation, authorities seized two vehicles specifically modified to conceal cargo intended for both human and animal health.

Three men, aged between 27 and 31, were arrested during the interception. Investigations revealed that the suspects were sourcing the products in Dakola and attempting to bypass security checkpoints to reach their destination. The estimated value of the seized goods is approximately 5 million CFA francs.

In addition to the trafficking charges, the investigation has been extended to include potential money laundering. The suspects have been transferred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
