Sapphire Gas Solutions acquires Spectrum LNG assets

Sapphire Gas Solutions has acquired assets from Spectrum LNG, including the Desert Gas LNG Plant in Ehrenberg, Arizona, and a site for future expansion in Stroud, Oklahoma. The acquisition is intended to expand Sapphire’s natural gas services in the Southwest United States and Southern California by adding liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capabilities.

The Desert Gas facility features approximately 100,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity and an operational production capacity of roughly 76,000 gallons per day. The plant utilizes natural gas from TC Energy’s North Baja pipeline to supply municipal, commercial, and industrial customers throughout the region.

According to Sapphire CEO Sam Thigpen, the move advances the company’s strategy to build a vertically integrated merchant LNG platform. Spectrum LNG has reported an annual increase in LNG deliveries of more than 15% since 2021, highlighting growing regional demand for small-scale LNG.
