Sapporo hosts promotional event for Wagyu competition

An event was held in Sapporo on September 5 to mark the one-year countdown to the 13th National Wagyu Capability Competition (Wagyu Zenkyo) Hokkaido Tournament. The competition is scheduled to begin on August 26 next year in the towns of Otofu and Obihiro.

The promotional event featured the tournament mascot, ‘Wagyury’, and a talk show by ‘Wa Gyu Dan’, a group consisting of students from five agricultural high schools, including Obihiro Agricultural High School. Participants used the stage to share details about the upcoming competition and their activities in Wagyu breeding.

Local food vendors and food trucks offered Hokkaido Wagyu products, such as steak, to attendees. Officials from the Hokkaido Wagyu Promotion Council and the executive committee expressed hopes that the event would increase awareness of Hokkaido Wagyu and stimulate regional consumption and production.
