Sapporo police arrest two men for separate building‑intrusion crimes

A 54‑year‑old part‑time worker was arrested on August 1 after entering a church in Toyohira Ward, Sapporo, and stealing three loaves of bread worth about 300 yen. He had been volunteering at the church and told investigators he acted to reduce his living expenses.

A 26‑year‑old prep‑school student was arrested on August 2 for unlawfully entering a women’s restroom at a prep school in Chuo/North Ward, Sapporo. Police reported the suspect inserted a smartphone into a stall and are investigating possible voyeurism. He claimed he entered the women’s restroom because of stomach pain and denied any wrongdoing. Both arrests were made by Sapporo police in early August 2026.
