Saqlain Mushtaq challenges Tauseef Ahmed over selection claims

Former Pakistani cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq has publicly challenged Tauseef Ahmed, who served as Pakistan’s interim chief selector in 2023, to release an alleged audio recording regarding team selection.

The dispute arose following claims made by Tauseef that Saqlain attempted to influence the selection of Shadab Khan, who is Saqlain’s son-in-law. Tauseef alleged that he received phone calls and voice messages instructing him to ‘go easy’ on Shadab’s selection, citing instances of favouritism.

Saqlain Mushtaq denied the allegations of favouritism, stating that his communications with Tauseef were made out of respect for his seniority. Saqlain has challenged Tauseef to ‘prove it’ by releasing the voice message publicly, asserting that he also possesses a full record of the communications and will release his own evidence if Tauseef does so.
