Saquarema advances infrastructure works alongside archaeological preservation

The Saquarema City Hall is advancing plans for drainage and paving works in the Barra Nova neighborhood. To ensure the preservation of local history, technicians from the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) conducted a technical visit to the Sambaqui da Pontinha archaeological site.

Archaeological research is required before urban interventions can proceed in that specific area. Additionally, officials visited the Sambaqui da Beirada Archaeological Site, where archaeologists from the National Museum are preparing a new exhibition. Planned improvements at the site include the installation of an educational tower for observing native species and the local sky.
