Saquarema implements new app to accelerate business licensing

The municipality of Saquarema has implemented a new application called ‘ViAgiliza’ to streamline the business licensing process. Developed by technicians from the Municipal Secretariat of Urbanism (SMU), the tool has reduced the average time required to analyze economic activity feasibility by up to 96%.

Previously, the average evaluation time was 33.5 hours. With the new technology, the process has dropped to approximately 2.3 to 2.5 hours. The application uses algorithms to monitor the Regin system, used by the Board of Trade, and sends direct notifications to officials' mobile phones whenever a new request is registered.

The tool automates the verification of whether a proposed business complies with local zoning and land use regulations, such as ensuring certain industries are not established in restricted areas. According to Gleydson Taquini, an advisor at the SMU responsible for the development, the innovation aims to value the time of entrepreneurs and facilitate local economic development.
