Coco Gauff and Sara Bejlek set for Cincinnati Open semifinal
The Cincinnati Open WTA 1000 tournament has reached its semifinals, featuring a high-profile matchup between Coco Gauff and the tournament's breakout star, Sara Bejlek.
Coco Gauff secured her place in the semifinals with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Marta Kostyuk. Gauff has shown improved aggression at the net, a strategy she noted has become more effective since Wimbledon.
Sara Bejlek, the 20-year-old Czech player, has become the sensation of the tournament. After defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and former champion Madison Keys—winning the latter 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5)—Bejlek has reached her first WTA 1000 semifinal. Her run includes victories over several high-ranking players and Grand Slam champions, including Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Krejcikova.
In the women's draw, Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek have also advanced to the semifinals. In the men's draw, American players Frances Tiafoe and Brandon Nakashima have reached the semifinals, marking the first time two Americans have done so in Cincinnati since 2010.
