Sara Carbonero visits Galápagos Islands during Ecuador trip

Journalist Sara Carbonero is concluding a trip through Ecuador, traveling from Quito and the Amazon to the Galápagos Islands alongside her partner, Jota Cabrera.

During her time in the Galápagos, Carbonero had a chance encounter with Ecuadorian athlete and television presenter María Teresa Guerrero, known as ‘La Flaca’. Both women are ovarian cancer survivors; Guerrero shared that seeing Carbonero provided a sense of hope, noting that they connected over their shared experiences and the physical and emotional scars of the disease.

Carbonero’s travels follow a difficult year marked by personal loss and health concerns. Her itinerary has included visiting cultural sites such as the house of painter Oswaldo Guayasamín and navigating the Napo River in the Amazon.
