Sara Duterte and husband linked to P4.4B in AMLC report
The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) presented evidence to the Senate Impeachment Court linking Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, to P4.4 billion in aggregate financial transactions between 2007 and 2025.
According to the AMLC report, Duterte was associated with P3.73 billion in transactions, including P1.41 billion in inflows and P1.06 billion in outflows. Carpio was linked to P749.92 million in transactions. To prevent double counting from joint accounts, the AMLC adjusted the total, resulting in a net aggregate of P4.4 billion, which includes P1.46 billion in unclassified movements.
Separately, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) reportedly requested the AMLC to delete 13 covered transaction reports (CTRs) linked to Carpio. The bank cited a “system bug from a source application system” that caused inaccurate reporting of amounts. BPI noted that after corrections, several transactions fell below the P500,000 threshold required for CTR filing. Despite these requested deletions, P4.4 billion in transactions remained in the AMLC records.
