Sara Sidner reveals false Stage 4 cancer diagnosis
CNN anchor Sara Sidner revealed she recently endured 15 days of emotional distress following a medical scare that suggested her cancer had returned in a metastatic state.
After previously being diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in early 2024, a recent PET scan indicated that the disease had progressed to Stage 4, appearing to have spread to her hip, spine, liver, and lungs. Sidner described the period as a time of torment where she felt “inconsolable” while contemplating her prognosis.
However, subsequent medical testing, including a biopsy, confirmed the scan was a false alarm. Sidner announced on CNN News Central that the results were “not malignant,” clarifying that the biopsy results proved she is cancer-free. She noted that the experience provided a “deep, guttural sigh of relief” after the initial shock of the scan results.
