Saracens dismiss academy player Totoa Auvaa
The Saracens rugby club has terminated the contract of senior men’s academy player Totoa Auvaa with immediate effect. The decision follows an alleged altercation in St Albans during the early hours of Sunday, October 11.
Hertfordshire Police are currently investigating the incident, which reportedly occurred on St Peter’s Street between 2:15 a.m. and 2:20 a.m. Allegations suggest a man in his twenties was approached and struck in the face by another individual. The club stated that Auvaa’s conduct fell short of the standards expected of those representing Saracens both on and off the pitch.
This dismissal follows a previous incident in June involving Auvaa at a London nightclub, where he was involved in a confrontation with members of the England cricket team. In that instance, Auvaa reportedly missed striking cricketer Gus Atkinson and instead hit a security guard. While the club previously expressed support for the player following that event, the recent incident has led to his permanent departure.
