Saracens forward Totoa Auvaa avoids sanction after nightclub altercation with England cricketers

Saracens confirmed that 21‑year‑old Samoan loose forward Totoa Auvaa will face no disciplinary action for his role in a June 8 nightclub incident in Chelsea. Auvaa allegedly threw a punch at England bowler Gus Atkinson, missing and striking an England and Wales Cricket Board security guard who required stitches but did not involve police.

The rugby club said its independent review found the matter “regrettable” but concluded no further action was needed, adding that Saracens was not consulted during the ECB’s parallel investigation. The Cricket Regulator and the ECB later cleared England captain Ben Stokes and Atkinson of wrongdoing, issuing them conduct warnings for breaching contractual obligations. Both cricketers missed the second Test at The Oval but were recalled for the third Test in Nottingham.

Saracens stressed support for the player and stated its procedures were followed thoroughly, while the ECB’s statements noted Atkinson had been the target of “unprovoked attacks”.
