Sarah Engels reflects on Eurovision stint and new opening act for Ronan Keating

German singer Sarah Engels, who represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna and placed 23rd of 25 entries, said the competition was “an unbelievably great experience.” She highlighted a memorable moment in the semi‑final when she fell backwards on a podium and was caught by four dancers, a gesture she said symbolised female solidarity.

Engels returned to Cologne’s musical “Moulin Rogue!” shortly after Eurovision, noting that live performances remain her greatest passion: “I love connecting with people, singing and getting direct feedback from the audience.” While her run in the Cologne production is ending as the show moves to Hamburg, she has secured a high‑profile gig as the opening act for Irish pop star Ronan Keating.

Despite a modest Eurovision ranking, Engels stays positive, emphasizing the personal and professional growth she gained from the event and her ongoing stage work.
