Sarah Ferguson's charitable trust officially closes

Sarah Ferguson’s charity, Sarah’s Trust, was founded in 2020 to support frontline humanitarian and environmental projects. After losing patronage from several charities due to her past association with the late Jeffrey Epstein, the organisation announced in February 2026 that it would close “for the foreseeable future”. In July 2026 the charity was formally removed from the public charity register and listed as “converted/closed” at Companies House.

The former Duchess of York has reportedly taken refuge in Verbier, Switzerland, staying in the chalet “Les Gais Lutins” that belonged to her late friend Paddy McNally, who died on 22 July 2026. The closure ends the Trust’s work that had delivered aid parcels during the COVID pandemic, supported medical aid in Ukraine and education projects in Ghana.

The shutdown illustrates the lasting reputational impact of Ferguson’s links to Epstein, which prompted multiple charities to sever ties and contributed to the Trust’s inability to continue its mission.
