Sarah Gigante nears competitive return after year-long injury layoff

Australian professional cyclist Sarah Gigante is preparing for a competitive return following a year-long absence caused by a femur fracture. The AG Insurance - Soudal rider, recognized as one of the premier climbers in the women’s peloton, suffered the injury during a training crash.

Marking one year since the injury, Gigante shared via social media that her recovery involved two surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. She noted the difficulty of watching the sport continue without her and missing three Grand Tours. Gigante expressed gratitude for her support system and stated she is now riding pain-free.

While the current season is nearing its end, Gigante may look to regain racing rhythm in upcoming events such as the Faun Classic Femmes or late-autumn one-day races in Italy.
