Sarah Healy and Sophie O'Sullivan compete in European 1,500m final

Irish athletes Sarah Healy and Sophie O'Sullivan competed in the women's 1,500m final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Both athletes had previously qualified for the final after strong performances in the heats, where Healy finished second and O'Sullivan finished fifth.

In the final, which began at a relatively slow pace before accelerating in the closing stages, Healy secured a fifth-place finish. O'Sullivan finished eighth. Great Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell won the event.

Additionally, the Irish women's 4x100m relay team, consisting of Lucy-May Sleeman, Ciara Neville, Sarah Leahy, and Lauren Roy, set a new national record of 43.13 seconds in their semi-final, securing the final qualification spot for the relay final.
