Sarah Jessica Parker addresses identity confusion with Carrie Bradshaw
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker has addressed the long-standing public perception that she is synonymous with her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw. In a recent interview with British Vogue, the 61-year-old actress expressed frustration regarding the common misconception that she is the character herself, stating simply, “That I am Carrie.”
Parker’s association with the role spans nearly three decades, beginning with the original Sex and the City series on HBO from 1998 to 2004, followed by two feature films in 2008 and 2010. Most recently, she reprised the role for three seasons of the sequel series, And Just Like That..., which aired between 2021 and 2025.
Reflecting on the conclusion of the recent project, Parker noted that while the character has dominated her career for 27 years, she maintains a complex emotional connection to the role, having felt a range of emotions toward the character throughout her tenure.
