Sarah Mitton wins silver in Diamond League shot put final

Canadian shot putter Sarah Mitton secured a silver medal in the women’s shot put at the Diamond League Final held at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. The 30-year-old athlete from Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, recorded a best throw of 20.64 metres on her first attempt and surpassed the 20-metre mark on three other throws.

The gold medal was won by American Chase Jackson, who threw 21.14 metres, setting an American, Diamond League, and meet record while establishing a world-leading mark. The third-place finish went to Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, who recorded 20.57 metres.
