Sarah Paulson discusses American Horror Story preferences and experiences

Actress Sarah Paulson has identified ‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ as her least favorite season of the anthology series. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Paulson expressed that the 2016 installment, which utilized a documentary-style structure, was not to her liking.

Series creator Ryan Murphy defended the season, stating it is his personal favorite and praising Paulson’s performance despite her critiques. Murphy noted that the two have had previous disagreements regarding the season.

Paulson also shared insights into her experience on the show, including the vocal strain caused by her intense screaming performances in early seasons. To manage the physical demands, she revealed she occasionally used steroid shots to maintain her ability to perform. Additionally, she described the technical challenges of playing conjoined twins in the ‘Freak Show’ season, noting she used an earpiece to record and playback her own dialogue to ensure authenticity while acting opposite herself.
