Sarajevo and Republika Srpska announce transport and tourism updates

In Sarajevo Canton, the sale of monthly public transport passes for September 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 1 to September 5. This includes passes for workers, pensioners, the unemployed, and veterans. Following a decision by the Sarajevo Canton Government, public transport remains free for primary and secondary school students for the upcoming school year. Students must follow specific procedures to obtain or renew their passes, with first-year high school students needing to apply through their schools or Centrotrans sales points. Students may use public transport without a pass until September 14, 2026.

Separately, the Republic of Srpska will reintroduce tourism vouchers worth 100 KM for adult citizens residing in the entity from September 7 to November 30. These vouchers are intended to support domestic tourism and must be used outside the holder's place of residence. The Ministry of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska is expected to release a list of participating hotels and catering facilities. Since the project's inception during the pandemic, approximately 80,000 vouchers have been utilized.
