Sarajevo Canton abolishes business registration fees

The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Economy has initiated the abolition of court fees for the registration of new business entities and the registration of rights to conduct foreign trade. This measure, implemented through amendments to the Sarajevo Canton Court Fees Act, aims to reduce administrative burdens and encourage new business activities.

The decision follows consultations with business owners and data analysis from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, which recorded 2,771 companies and 25 foreign companies registered between 2020 and 2022. While these specific fees are abolished, other registration actions remain subject to fees under the updated law.

Additionally, the reforms enable electronic and non-cash payment of court fees. Companies that employ persons with disabilities and protected workshops are exempt from all court register registration fees. The Ministry has also secured funding for 2026 to continue the digitalization of the court register, a project involving the scanning, indexing, and migration of approximately 17,000 registration files.
