Bosnia and Herzegovina officials debate economic results and pension increases

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, political figures and officials are debating economic performance and social welfare. Nermin Džindić, a former federal minister, has criticized current Minister Vedran Lakić, alleging that the ministry is presenting a distorted view of its achievements. Džindić specifically cited issues regarding Energoinvest, the Railway Law, fuel terminals, and the mining sector, claiming that successes are being masked by debt and declining revenues.

Separately, Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić addressed criticisms regarding pension increases. Delić stated that pensions have seen significant growth, noting that the lowest pension rose from approximately 538 KM in 2023 to around 691 KM for existing users. He argued that in 2026 alone, pensions increased by 15.08 percent, providing existing lowest-tier pensioners with an additional 92 KM per month, and claimed that inflation is already factored into the adjustment formula.
