Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection holds readiness parade in Ilidža

The Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection Administration held a formal parade in Ilidža to demonstrate the organization, equipment, and readiness of its structures for responding to natural and other disasters.

The event showcased the capabilities of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration (KUCZ), municipal services, and the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS). A significant development noted is the establishment of the first post-war “Firefighter” educational program at the Secondary School for the Environment.

During the ceremony, Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Nihad Uk emphasized the importance of concrete results in public service and praised the solidarity shown by responders during domestic disasters and international missions, such as those in Slovenia. KUCZ Director Dženan Brkanić highlighted that the system's strength lies in its personnel, noting that the professional firefighting unit has seen significant staffing increases, including 100 professional firefighters since 2022 and 40 trainees as of August 2026.
