Sarajevo Canton health officials warn of spreading measles

The Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton has issued a warning to parents regarding the spread of measles in the region. This follows confirmed cases in neighboring Croatia, which have been linked to travel from Kosovo, where an increased number of infections has been recorded.

Health officials emphasize that measles is one of the most contagious diseases and can spread rapidly in environments with low vaccination rates, such as schools and kindergartens, especially at the start of the new school year. The Institute urges parents to verify their children's vaccination status and to ensure that the MRP vaccine (protecting against measles, rubella, and mumps) is administered according to the regular immunization schedule.

Authorities noted that delaying vaccination leaves children unnecessarily unprotected. Parents who have missed scheduled doses are advised to contact pediatric services immediately to complete the immunization process.
