Sarajevo Canton implements educational and youth support reforms

The Sarajevo Canton Government has implemented a series of measures aimed at creating a continuous educational and support system for children and youth. For younger children, the administration has focused on improving preschool accessibility, providing free textbooks, and investing in school and kindergarten infrastructure. Notably, a co-financing program for kindergarten stays has successfully eliminated waiting lists, a model described as unique within Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.

In addition to early childhood support, the government is introducing initiatives for older students and young adults. These include free public transportation for all students throughout the year and the establishment of a Mobility Fund to finance international education and internships. To support entrepreneurship, grants and mentorship are available for start-ups led by individuals up to age 35.

Infrastructure developments include the reconstruction of educational facilities and the construction of a new Youth Center at the Vila Braun complex, intended to serve as a hub for art, sports, and entrepreneurship. The government's stated goal is to create stable conditions that allow young people to remain in Sarajevo while providing them the freedom to pursue international training and return with new expertise.
