Sarajevo Canton implements water pressure reductions due to drought

KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija Sarajevo has announced a new measure to temporarily reduce water pressure across the entire Sarajevo Canton. This decision was made to prevent pump aggregates from running dry, protect electromechanical and hydro equipment from damage such as overheating or cavitation, and ensure necessary water accumulation in reservoirs.

The pressure reductions are scheduled to take place between midnight and 5:00 AM. Residents living on higher floors of apartment buildings and those in hilly settlements may experience the most significant impact.

Water supply issues in the Sarajevo Canton have persisted for several days due to worsening conditions at water sources. A prolonged dry period, high temperatures, and a lack of precipitation have significantly reduced output. Specifically, at the Vrelu Mošćanice source, capacity has dropped from a required 100 liters per second to only 37 liters per second in mid-September.
