Sarajevo Canton Sports Federation urges urgent adoption of new Sport Law

Representatives of the Sarajevo Canton Sports Federation are calling for the urgent adoption of a new Sport Law by the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. The proposed legislation, which has been in development for several years with input from sports professionals, aims to provide long-term stability and a clear regulatory framework for athletes, coaches, and sports workers.

Key provisions of the law include the first-ever mandate to designate a specific percentage of the Sarajevo Canton budget for sports. Additionally, the law introduces lifelong financial benefits for elite athletes following the conclusion of their professional careers.

Samir Šarić, President of the Sports Federation, and Kenan Magoda, Minister of Culture and Sports, emphasized that the law is a non-partisan initiative designed to serve all athletes regardless of political affiliation. They urged both government and opposition representatives to include the law on the assembly's agenda to avoid potential complications following upcoming elections.
