Sarajevo Cantonal Court orders new trial for Zukić and others
The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has partially overturned a first-instance verdict from the Sarajevo Municipal Court regarding illegalities in public sector hiring during 2016.
As a result of the ruling, Esed Džananović and Nedžad Trako have been legally acquitted of all charges. However, Amir Zukić, Safet Bibić, and Ramiz Karavdić are ordered to undergo a new trial before the Cantonal Court Council following the partial acceptance of their defense's appeal. The court rejected the Prosecution's appeal, deeming it unfounded.
The original case stems from 2016, when Amir Zukić, then a federal deputy and high-ranking member of the Party of Democratic Action, allegedly contacted Esed Džananović, the former executive director of Elektroprivreda BiH, regarding employment. The previous verdict had sentenced Zukić to one year in prison, Bibić to three years, and Karavdić to a suspended sentence.
