Sarajevo Film Festival announces diverse 32nd edition programming

The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, scheduled for August 14–21, 2026, will feature several specialized programming tracks including Summer Screen, Kinoscope, Kinoscope Surreal, and "Facing the Past."

The Summer Screen program highlights works by renowned directors such as Cristian Mungiu, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Ryūsuke Hamaguchi. These films focus on intimate human experiences, including loss, identity, and belonging. Featured titles include "Fjord" by Mungiu and "Sheep in the Box" by Kore-eda.

The Kinoscope and Kinoscope Surreal programs offer a mix of award-winning art-house films and provocative genre pieces, such as horror and queer cinema. Meanwhile, the "Facing the Past" program presents nine films exploring historical memory, ranging from Lebanese audiovisual history to stories of survival during sieges.

Additionally, the festival will host the world premiere of the Slovenian crime drama "Izgubljeni sin" (Lost Son), directed by Darko Štante and starring Jure Henigman, which explores intergenerational violence.
