Sarajevo Fest and FIAT festival showcase international theatre productions
Major regional theatre festivals are currently underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
The 8th Sarajevo Fest features a diverse program at the National Theatre Sarajevo. Highlights include a production of Sophocles’ “Electra” directed by Dimitris Tarlow and performed by the Greek Theatre Poreia. Additionally, the festival presents “Brecht’s Ghosts,” a puppet spectacle by Suse Wächter from the Berliner Ensemble, which utilizes over 100 large puppets to explore themes of exile and memory.
In Montenegro, the 41st International Festival of Alternative Theatre (FIAT) has opened in Podgorica under the theme “Pro(vidance).” The festival commenced with the Senegalese production “Ancrage” (Uporište) by Modou Fata Touré at the Montenegrin National Theatre. The event includes a variety of performances, film screenings such as the 1975 film “Kičma,” and musical programs held at various urban locations including the courtyard of the “Slobodan Škerović” Gymnasium.
