Sarajevo experiences tourism boost from cultural events
Sarajevo is experiencing a significant tourism boost driven by a robust summer season of cultural and musical events. The city recorded over 100,000 visitors in July, supported by major attractions such as the Sarajevo Film Festival and large-scale concerts.
One standout success is the “Sevdah Damir Imamović u Svrzinoj kući” project. The concert series, held at the historic Svrzina kuća, saw nine consecutive sold-out performances. Organizers reported that while 70 percent of attendees were local, approximately 30 percent traveled from other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and internationally from cities including London, Berlin, and Tbilisi.
Federal Minister Nasiha Pozder noted that such manifestations serve as vital tourism tools by allowing visitors to experience the city’s authentic identity through music and tradition. Additionally, the National Theatre Sarajevo is continuing its “Kultura na ulice!” (Culture to the Streets!) program, bringing high art and musical performances to public spaces like Hero Square.
