Sarajevo International Airport expands connectivity and infrastructure

Sarajevo International Airport is expanding its international connectivity through several key initiatives. A new direct flight route between Sarajevo and Bratislava is scheduled to begin on December 3, 2026, operated by Wizz Air. This route aims to strengthen tourism, business, and economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia.

Additionally, airport officials have held discussions with the United States Embassy regarding the potential establishment of direct flights between Sarajevo and destinations in the United States. These talks focused on enhancing economic cooperation, protecting critical infrastructure, and improving security standards, including collaboration with the TSA and cybersecurity measures.

In other regional developments, the Sarajevo Canton has secured a 500,000 euro EBRD grant to fund consultancy services for a major district heating project. This initiative, valued at over 20 million euros, aims to modernize the heating system using purified wastewater as a heat source to improve energy security and environmental quality.
