Sarajevo medical technician indicted for bribery

The Municipal Court in Sarajevo has confirmed an indictment against Ermin Karup, the former chief medical technician of the Emergency Medicine Department at the “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš” General Hospital.

Karup is accused of trading in influence between April 2021 and the end of 2022. According to the prosecution, he allegedly accepted bribes totaling 4,500 KM to facilitate the extension of employment contracts for a female employee. The indictment details three separate instances: an initial payment of 1,000 EUR, a subsequent 1,500 KM payment accompanied by the provision of correct answers to a written test, and a final payment of 1,000 KM to ensure the employee's continued engagement as a nurse.

The prosecution has requested the permanent seizure of 4,455.83 KM in illegal gains and a five-year ban on Karup holding the position of chief medical technician in health institutions if convicted. The trial is expected to involve eight witnesses, a digital forensics expert, and over 120 pieces of material evidence.
