Sarajevo Safari wins best documentary at Storie Parallele festival

The documentary ‘Sarajevo Safari’ has won the award for best documentary at the ‘Storie Parallele’ film festival held in Salandra, in Italy’s Basilicata region.

The film explores testimonies regarding the so-called ‘weekend tourists’—wealthy foreigners who allegedly paid to be positioned with Bosnian Serb forces to shoot at residents during the siege of Sarajevo.

According to organizers, the film has transitioned from a cinematic work into a broader public discourse, supported by journalistic and judicial investigations. It serves as a resource for reopening discussions on accountability, memory, and European silence regarding the events of the siege.
