Davud Puškić arrested after Sarajevo Baščaršija shooting

On July 29, 2026, a gunman opened fire on a bar in the Kundurdžiluk street of Sarajevo’s historic Baščaršija district, causing panic among locals and tourists. The shooter, identified as 25‑year‑old Davud Puškić, wore a balaclava and fired several rounds at the venue. No one was injured.

Police of the Sarajevo Canton detained Puškić the following evening (July 30) on suspicion of “endangering public safety” (Article 323 of the FBiH Criminal Code). He was placed in police custody pending further investigation.

A related altercation later that night near the Latin Bridge involved Puškić’s brother, Suleiman Puškić, and three men—Admir Džono, Nihad Haskić and Adin Rustempašić—who were in a Range Rover. The confrontation resulted in the three men being arrested on suspicion of violent behavior (Article 362) and the brother being detained. Police also recovered a pistol and ammunition at the scene.

All suspects were transferred to the detention facilities of the Sarajevo police, where criminal processing will continue.
