Sarajevo sues Mado restaurant tenant over 47,000 KM debt

The City of Sarajevo has initiated legal proceedings against the tenant of Mado restaurant, located within the Bistrik Railway Station building, due to outstanding debts. The total amount owed includes 41,281.50 KM in unpaid rent and 5,663.81 KM in utility costs.

Mado restaurant, which had operated in the facility since 2023, closed during the summer of this year due to negative financial results. In addition to debt collection, the City is seeking the return of the premises to its possession. The City administration noted that if the tenant does not surrender the property promptly, administrative eviction procedures will be pursued.

The City has requested urgent action from the Sarajevo Municipal Court, citing the significance of the Bistrik Railway Station, which was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006. Officials emphasized that protecting this cultural and historical heritage is a legal and constitutional obligation of public interest.
