Sarajevo underground garage project faces legal dispute
The construction of a 30 million KM underground garage near the National Theatre in Sarajevo is facing significant legal and political challenges. The project, which aims to provide 530 parking spaces, is based on a concession agreement between Centrotrans and the Sarajevo Canton established in 2010.
Centrotrans has warned that a proposal by the Centar Municipal Council to transfer management of the parking area to the public enterprise ‘Centar’ d.o.o. Sarajevo could jeopardize the entire investment. The company stated they have revised project documentation to comply with requirements from the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, moving the structure out of protected zones.
During a municipal council session, Hajrudin Mulić accused Centar Municipality Mayor Srđan Mandić of acting unlawfully and misrepresenting the public. Mulić claimed that the municipality cannot dispose of property it does not own and expressed concern over the legal status of the concession, which remains subject to ongoing court proceedings.
