Sarajevo water supply facing disruptions due to low source yields

KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija Sarajevo has announced potential water supply disruptions and pressure reductions across numerous neighborhoods in Sarajevo due to unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions. A significant drop in water yield and levels at the main sources of the water supply system has necessitated these measures.

Initial disruptions were scheduled between 10:00 and 16:00, affecting areas including Grbavica, Hrasno, Dolac Malta, Dobrinja, and Kobilja Glava, among others. Further measures were announced for the evening between 20:00 and 22:00, impacting Hrasno, Švrakino Selo, Aneks, parts of Mojmil, and Dobrinja.

The utility company stated that reducing pressure is necessary to prevent pump units from running dry and to protect electromechanical and hydraulic equipment from damage, such as cavitation, motor overheating, and air entering the pressure pipelines. Residents in higher elevations or upper floors of buildings may experience a total loss of water. Authorities have urged citizens to use water rationally.
