Sarandë shooting: Police Director orders crackdown on organized crime

Following a fatal shooting in Sarandë that left a 44-year-old man dead and a 73-year-old bystander wounded, the Director General of the State Police, Skender Hita, held an emergency meeting with local police structures.

Hita ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, as well as a comprehensive scan of the regional criminal landscape. This includes identifying individuals with criminal records and mapping both local and transient criminal groups. He emphasized that with the tourist season ending, police focus will shift toward intensifying investigations into both current and historical criminal cases.

To support these efforts, the State Police will provide additional human resources and logistical support to create specialized units for investigating serious and organized crime. Currently, authorities are utilizing drones to conduct surveillance and searches across the Sarandë and Delvinë areas. An investigative team, directed by the Prosecutor's Office, is managing the collection of evidence to identify the perpetrators.
