Saransh Jain makes Test cricket debut for India against Sri Lanka

Saransh Jain made his Test cricket debut for India during the second match of the series against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The 33-year-old all-rounder stepped in for Kuldeep Yadav, who was sidelined with a viral infection. Jain, who became the 320th player to represent India in Test cricket, received his debut cap from veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Jain’s debut is notable for several reasons. He is the oldest Indian player to make a Test debut in the 21st century and is among a select group of Indian cricketers, including Murali Vijay and Mohammed Shami, to represent the national team before playing a single Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

Reflecting on his achievement, Jain dedicated his milestone to his father, Subodh, who supported his cricket career despite facing health challenges including mouth cancer. Jain’s path to the national side was built through consistent performances in domestic cricket, the Ranji Trophy, and India A matches.
