Sarawak and Sabah contingents set medal targets for Para SUKMA 2026

State contingents from Sarawak and Sabah have announced their medal targets for the 2026 Selangor Para SUKMA games.

Sarawak’s para powerlifting team is aiming for four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. The team is adapting to a revised competition format where medals are decided by an athlete’s single best lift rather than a combined total. Key medal prospects for Sarawak include Bryan Junency John, Johannes Gabriel Chiew, Bibiana Ahmad, and Sona Agon.

Meanwhile, Sabah has deployed a contingent of 154 para athletes to compete in 10 different sports, with a goal of securing 66 gold medals. Preparations for the Sabah teams have included long-term training programs, with coaches for chess, table tennis, and athletics expressing high confidence in their athletes' readiness for the competition.
