Sarawak Energy names Ruslan Abdul Ghani as new group CEO
Sarawak Energy's Board of Directors announced the appointment of Dato Ruslan Abdul Ghani as group chief executive officer designate, effective 1 September 2026, with full assumption of the role on 1 November 2026 after the retirement of Datuk Sharbini Suhaili. Ruslan, an engineer with a Master of Science in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick, brings more than 30 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including senior positions at PETRONAS and as president and group CEO of Bintulu Port Holdings. Chairman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the board is confident in Ruslan’s ability to lead Sarawak Energy into its next growth phase and thanked Sharbini for his service. The transition period will involve close cooperation between Ruslan, the outgoing CEO, and the Group Executive Committee to ensure continuity of operations and strategic priorities.
