Sarawak has surveyed over 1.25 million hectares of NCR land

As of August 31, more than 1.25 million hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land have been surveyed across Sarawak. Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that the state government is now shifting its focus toward an end-to-end solution for land management.

This next phase involves completing the process through boundary verification, documentation, registration, and the final issuance of land titles. The Premier emphasized that the achievement should be viewed as more than just a statistic, noting that each surveyed lot represents the history, livelihood, and future of local families.

While technology will be used to accelerate the surveying process, the Premier stressed that engagement with landowners and communities remains essential to reduce disputes and protect people's rights. The Land and Survey Department is also tasked with strengthening other areas, including land-use planning, modernizing mapping systems, and improving the governance of mineral resources to support Sarawak's rapid development and digital economy.
