Sarawak launches Miss Sarawak Tourism 2026 to promote regional culture
The Miss Sarawak Tourism 2026 competition has been officially launched in Kuching, aimed at developing tourism ambassadors to promote Sarawak’s culture, heritage, and identity on a global scale. Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, emphasized that the finalists must act as representatives who possess strong communication skills, confidence, and a deep understanding of the state’s 34 ethnic groups and their traditions.
The program, themed ‘The Face of Sarawak Tourism’, focuses on shaping youth talent through leadership and communication training rather than just aesthetic competition. This year’s edition includes 17 local finalists and five non-competing international delegates from Indonesia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Zambia, and the Czech Republic, intended to foster international tourism diplomacy and cultural exchange.
