Sarawak Premier remains undecided on DUN dissolution date

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has declined to confirm a specific date for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), despite growing speculation regarding the 13th Sarawak State Election.

While the current assembly term is scheduled to expire in February 2027, the Premier noted that the window for holding the election is narrowing. Although PBB Information Chief Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has suggested potential polling dates in December—specifically December 5, 12, or 19—the Premier stated he remains unsure of the exact timing.

Once the DUN is dissolved, the Election Commission must conduct the state election within 60 days. Until a new government is formed, the existing administration will serve as a caretaker government to ensure public services and welfare remain uninterrupted.
